So, here is the post that highlights the very thing that inspired me to start this blog in the first place . . . a cross-stitch for my brother that he bought because I offered to stitch it up for him. I honestly cannot tell you how long ago that was, but I think he as moved twice since them. So, a looooooooooong time. Well, guess what? I finished it! Seriously! I did. Now that it is done I am quite proud of myself (even if it was just a kit). Now I just have to get it to him . . . with many humble apologies for taking so long.
Here are some pictures for you to peruse of the framing process. It has come out quite nice and I think the frame makes it look even better.

So, after about five days of thinking about the sock that was about half an inch I did this:
And then started back in again and measured more carefully this time.

So . . . I thought I was doing great. I had no problems with the second foot, all the way through the toe.
All done! And . . . then I compared them, and tried them on . . . can you see the problem?
So, I decided to leave it. I only plan on wearing them to bed anyway. . . or so I thought . . .

This is my favorite part. Partly because it is short, but mostly because it is such a change from the straight stockinette.

I made quick progress on sock #1 and then soon cast on for the match . . . then I came back from the UK after the new year and tabled the project, picking it up occasionally, but only finishing recently. But not without a critical mistake. For now, my progress up to the beginning of the second sock.

So, for some reason I didn’t start with the K1, P1 ribbing and got about two inches before I realized what I was doing wrong (sheesh! such an amateur). So, I ripped that out and started again.

Christmas Cards . . . grrr December 13, 2009

Why is it that Christmas cards fill me with such angst? I don’t enjoy writing them up, filling out addresses, applying stamps . . . none of it really. They just seem like fussy little things that are a bit of a time waster. And can you believe that to send one costs 44 cents now?!? Yet it is something that has to be done. Seriously, there are many more things I would rather be doing than Christmas cards right now. Like any of my many unfinished projects. Hmm . . . this does not bode well for my wedding invitations . . .
Of course it doesn’t help one bit that the metallic pens I bought and thought were going to be really cool are total crap. And, I don’t have enough cards. And, I have this sinking feeling that I don’t have enough stamps either. I better stop, I’m getting more and more annoyed by the second.

We had our first snow here last evening. So, I thought it would be nice to add some more flowers. These were in the wooded areas around Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, NY. We were there for the Sheep and Wool Festival they held this year.
